Special Sessions Call

The PATMOS 2017 technical program will include Special Sessions like VARI 2017, which will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece on September 25-27, 2017. Their objective is to complement the regular program with new or emerging topics that are of particular interest to practitioners and experts for highest performance at lowest power consumption that may also cut across and beyond disciplines traditionally represented at PATMOS.

We recall that, typically, each Special Session comprises at least 5 presentations of about 20minutes each. The first paper in a Special Session may serve as an introduction to the field, aimed at outsiders, and therefore could also be an overview paper. Prospective organizers of Special Sessions should submit proposals delivering the following:

  • Title of the session
  • Rationale of the need for the Special Session at PATMOS; the rationale should stress the novelty of the topic and/or its multidisciplinary features (if any)
  • Short biography of the organizers
  • List of at least five (5) contributed papers (including titles, authors, contact information of the corresponding author, and a short abstract of each contribution). It should be noticed that organizers should not contribute with more than one paper.

Proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the topic, and the qualifications of organizers and contributors.

Important Dates:
Special Session Proposals due: March 20, 2017
Notification of acceptance of the Special Session: April 7, 2017
Submission of full four-page papers for approved Special Sessions: May 15, 2017 May 22, 2017
Notification of Special Session papers acceptance: June 26, 2017 June 30, 2017
eadline for submission of publication ready special session papers: July 24, 2017

After Special Session proposals are approved, manuscripts may be submitted to the special sessions and should conform to the formatting and electronic submission guidelines of regular PATMOS papers. Papers will undergo the same review process as regular papers. It is the responsibility of the organizers to ensure that their Special Session papers meet PATMOS quality standards. If, at the end of the review process, fewer than four (4) papers are accepted, the session will be cancelled and the accepted papers will be moved to regular sessions.

Proposals should be sent via e-mail to the Special Session Chair by March 20, 2017 at the latest.
